our Research grade testing
Movement tested —> Movement improved
No two athletes move—or perform—the same. At The Gait Lab, we combine research-grade gait analysis, VO₂ max, and strength testing to give you a complete understanding of how your body moves and performs. With precision data and expert interpretation, we uncover the root causes behind your injuries and performance limitations — identifying how your body moves, where it compensates, and what it needs to perform optimally.
As one of the only clinics in the country bringing this level of technology into a clinical setting, The Gait Lab delivers the kind of insight that turns numbers into real progress.
Real testing. Real data. Real progress
Unparalled Precision:
Our available testing:
The Gait Analysis Test
Our gait analysis uses a markerless 3D motion-capture system synchronized with a research-grade force-plate treadmill, capturing every stride in real time with unparalleled accuracy. This technology provides immediate, high-resolution data without the need for reflective markers or lengthy setup—allowing for rapid, precise insight into how your body interacts with the ground, absorbs force, and generates propulsion.
Whether you’re new to running, rebuilding from injury, or fine-tuning for elite performance, the information from this test delivers meaningful direction. For developing runners, it helps establish healthy movement patterns early. For injured athletes, it identifies the underlying mechanical factors that may contribute to pain or compensation. And for competitive runners, it quantifies stride efficiency and asymmetries that can be the key to unlocking higher performance. A PDF report is included with the gait analysis test.
VO2 Max and RMR Tests
VO₂ max testing provides one of the clearest windows into your cardiovascular and metabolic fitness—but at The Gait Lab, we go far beyond the number itself. Using our research-grade metabolic cart, we measure how efficiently your body uses oxygen and energy at different intensities, revealing your individual training zones and aerobic capacity with precision.
In addition to determining your VO₂ max, we analyze how your body shifts between fat and carbohydrate utilization as intensity increases—including your FatMax, the point where fat oxidation peaks. This insight highlights how efficiently you burn fuel, where your aerobic and anaerobic thresholds truly lie, and how to target the zones that improve endurance, performance, and metabolic health. Whether you’re building a foundation, fine-tuning race performance, or returning from injury, this test ensures every effort is purposeful, efficient, and sustainable. Resting metabolic testing (RMR) also available.
Strength Assessment
Strength is one of the most important—and most measurable—factors in performance and injury prevention. Using fix-belted dynamometers, we quantify the strength of 13 key muscle groups across the hips, thighs, and calves, calculating each muscle group’s strength-to-body-weight ratio and comparing results to published normative data. We also evaluate muscle balance ratios, such as hamstring-to-quadriceps strength, providing a clearer understanding of how your system functions as a whole.
Each assessment includes trunk endurance testing and six measures of flexibility, giving a complete view of both strength and mobility. You’ll receive a detailed report summarizing every measurement, highlighting where you’re strong, where you may be at risk, and how to target your training for the best results. The result is a comprehensive, data-driven profile that exposes weak links, validates progress, and directs your path toward better performance and resilience.
